  1. Sometimes when I'm driving I will switch on the radio and if it's tuned to talk, and broadcasts just at the beginning of a spoken sentence, I will switch the radio back off as soon as that sentence ends. Such desiderata are worth mulling over amid the noise and haste.

  2. What a great exercise. I have never tried something like that, aside from the fact that I don't have a car and rarely listen to talk radio (in French) - ah, the days of NPR are long past. I wonder how long you mull on what you've heard, how well you can concentrate on it and where it takes you. I'm intrigued by your choice of the word desiderata, as if they were signs full of potential, guides, life lessons.

  3. My nephew just told me that the stones we pick up on a beach were destined to be picked up and have a meaning well beyond our whim. I wonder if your bite-sized Desiderata (Desideratum?) is such a moment of fate?
